Payments for private chefs

Take the booking deposit before you fly to the villa.

Private chefs cooking in villas, chalets and on yachts are usually booked by guests who live in another country. Send one link for the booking deposit when the dates are agreed, and one for the balance before you arrive. Guests pay from their own wallet, and stablecoins settle to a wallet you control.

Before you read on: we publish every business type we take and every one we refuse — 28 we take, 11 we refuse.

Why this is harder than it looks

Guests abroad, a booking by message, and a food budget to agree.

The guests live in another country

Holidaymakers book from home, weeks or months before they arrive.

They pay your link from their own wallet, or by card where available — buyer eligibility depends on country, payment method, provider, and compliance checks.

The booking happens in a message

Many bookings come through a message or a concierge, not a website.

Send the deposit link in the same conversation, with the dates as the description. Every link is a single payment of a fixed amount.

A separate budget for the food

Some chefs ask for an amount up front for the food shopping.

Send it as its own link. It is a full payment, not a card hold, so returning any unspent part is a payment you send back yourself.

Deposits and balances settle to a wallet only you control.

Two limits worth knowing. If your own account with us is under review, automatic payouts pause until that is resolved. And a buyer paying by card can be declined, or asked to prove who they are, before the money is sent — a payment that doesn't happen, never money taken back from you afterwards.

How it works

A deposit to hold the dates, the balance before you arrive.

1

Agree the dates, the menu and your terms

Your terms say what the deposit is, when the balance is due, and what happens if the booking is cancelled.

2

Send the deposit link, then the balance

Guests pay from their own wallet, or by card where available — buyer eligibility depends on country, payment method, provider, and compliance checks.

3

The payment reaches your wallet

After the required network confirmations, in the currency the link was set in.

Common questions

What a private chef asks first.

Can the balance be charged automatically?

No. Zoyn keeps no card on file and charges nothing automatically. Each payment is its own link, which you send when it is due.

The guests add a dinner while I'm there.

Send it as its own link, with the date in the description. Zoyn keeps no card on file, so nothing is taken until the guest pays.

A concierge is booking for the guests.

Send the link to whoever is paying. Every link is a single payment of a fixed amount, paid by one person.

The guests cancel.

Your terms decide what is owed. Zoyn has no refund button: any refund you owe is a payment you send from your own wallet.

What does it cost me?

A percentage of each payment, agreed with you in writing before you go live: crypto payments start at 0.75%, and card payments, if your business can take them, have a separate, higher price. No monthly platform fee and no setup fee. Network fees, and any extra charge for how your customer pays, are separate. Your customer pays them on top of your price and sees their total before they pay.

Will you take my chef business?

We publish every business type we take and every one we refuse, and every application is reviewed before it goes live. We don't promise a timeline we can't keep.

Taking bookings for your own dining room? Read the page for private dining deposits. Letting the villa yourself? Read the page for vacation rentals. Not sure we'd take your business? See exactly how we decide.

Legal & regulatory disclosures

Zoyn is software. It is not a bank, a payment processor, a payment gateway, a money transmitter or a money services business. Zoyn is never the seller in a sale (the "merchant of record"). Zoyn never holds a shop's money, and does not decide how long a payment company may hold it. When a customer pays by card or bank, the payment company handles that payment under its own terms and may hold it for a short time. The money then goes to the shop's own payment contract once the payment network has confirmed it.

Businesses can be based in 64 jurisdictions. A US state stays open when at least one checkout partner still serves buyers there. Customers can pay from 130+ countries through the checkout providers we connect to; which countries customers can pay from is set by those providers, not by Zoyn, and may change without notice. Not available in sanctioned jurisdictions: Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Syria, and the Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions of Ukraine.
