Payments for online tutors

Get paid for tutoring by students and parents abroad.

A family in another country books a block of lessons over a message. Send one payment link for the block, the parent pays from their own wallet, and stablecoins settle straight to a wallet you control. Nothing is charged automatically.

Before you read on: we publish every business type we take and every one we refuse — 28 we take, 11 we refuse.

Why this is harder than it looks

Small payments, families far away, and lessons that get missed.

The booking happens in a message thread

A parent finds you through a recommendation, agrees a block of lessons in a chat, and then asks how to pay.

Create a link for the block from your phone and paste it into the chat. It is a single payment for a fixed amount, with your invoice number as the description.

The family lives in another country

Families abroad often want a tutor who teaches in their own language or their home curriculum, so a small, regular payment has to cross a border every time.

The parent pays from their own wallet, in the currency the link was set in. A card option may also appear where available — buyer eligibility depends on country, payment method, provider, and compliance checks.

“We missed a lesson. Can we have it back?”

A lesson is cancelled late or missed, and the parent asks for the money back or a free lesson.

Your own lesson terms decide what happens. Returning any money is a payment you send back yourself; Zoyn has no refund button. When a parent pays from their own wallet, Zoyn does not reverse a settled transfer; a card-funded payment can still be subject to the provider's own dispute rules.

Each block of lessons settles to a wallet only you control.

Two limits worth knowing. If your own account with us is under review, automatic payouts pause until that is resolved. And a parent paying by card can be declined, or asked to prove who they are, before the money is sent — a payment that doesn't happen, never money taken back from you afterwards.

How it works

One link per block of lessons.

1

Agree the block of lessons

How many lessons, and the price for the block.

2

Send one link

A fixed amount, with your invoice number as the description. The parent pays from their own wallet, or by card where available in their country.

3

The payment reaches your wallet

After the required network confirmations, in the currency the link was set in.

Common questions

What a tutor asks first.

Can parents be charged every month automatically?

No. Every link takes exactly one payment of a fixed amount, and nothing is charged automatically. Send a new link for each block of lessons.

Does this work for music lessons, exam preparation and art classes?

Yes. A block of piano lessons, an exam preparation course or a term of art classes is priced up front and paid with one link.

What should I put in the link description?

Your invoice number. Never the child's name or anything about the pupil.

Can a grandparent or another relative pay?

Yes. Whoever pays the link pays it once, for the amount on it. Send the link to the person who is actually paying.

What does it cost me?

A percentage of each payment, agreed with you in writing before you go live: crypto payments start at 0.75%, and card payments, if your business can take them, have a separate, higher price. No monthly platform fee and no setup fee. Network fees, and any extra charge for how your customer pays, are separate. Your customer pays them on top of your price and sees their total before they pay.

Do you accept tutors working on their own?

Yes. A tutor working on their own can apply as a sole trader. Every application is reviewed before it goes live, and we don't promise a timeline we can't keep.

Zoyn is software. It is not a bank, a payment processor, a payment gateway, a money transmitter or a money services business. Zoyn is never the seller in a sale (the "merchant of record"). Zoyn never holds a shop's money, and does not decide how long a payment company may hold it. When a customer pays by card or bank, the payment company handles that payment under its own terms and may hold it for a short time. The money then goes to the shop's own payment contract once the payment network has confirmed it.

Businesses can be based in 64 jurisdictions. A US state stays open when at least one checkout partner still serves buyers there. Customers can pay from 130+ countries through the checkout providers we connect to; which countries customers can pay from is set by those providers, not by Zoyn, and may change without notice. Not available in sanctioned jurisdictions: Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Syria, and the Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions of Ukraine.
