Payments for EV charger installers

The charger deposit first, then the balance once it's installed.

Home charger installs are usually one visit. Workplace and fleet jobs are business invoices. Send a link for each payment, and stablecoins settle to a wallet you control.

Before you read on: we publish every business type we take and every one we refuse — 28 we take, 11 we refuse.

Why this is harder than it looks

Kit bought ahead, surveys that change the job, and business customers.

You buy the charger before the visit

The unit is ordered for the customer's car and home before anyone picks up a tool. If the job is cancelled, you are left holding the stock.

Send a link for the deposit when the job is booked, and a second link for the balance once the charger is working. Every link is a single payment of a fixed amount.

The survey changes the job

A longer cable run, a new fuse board or a supply that needs upgrading only shows up once you are on site.

Quote the extra work and send its own link once the customer agrees. Nothing is charged automatically, and nothing is added to a link after it is sent.

Workplaces and fleets pay by invoice

An office car park or a delivery depot wants several chargers, a purchase order and an invoice, not a card at the door.

Send each invoice as its own link, with the purchase order number as the description. The business pays from its own wallet, or by card where available — buyer eligibility depends on country, payment method, provider, and compliance checks.

Deposits and balances settle to a wallet only you control.

Two limits worth knowing. If your own account with us is under review, automatic payouts pause until that is resolved. And a buyer paying by card can be declined, or asked to prove who they are, before the money is sent — a payment that doesn't happen, never money taken back from you afterwards.

How it works

A deposit, then the balance.

1

Book the job and send the deposit link

A fixed amount for the charger and the booking.

2

Install, test and hand over

Then send the link for the balance, with your job number as the description.

3

The payment reaches your wallet

After the required network confirmations, in the currency the link was set in.

Common questions

What a charger installer asks first.

Can I take the whole price in one link on the day?

Yes. For a simple home install, one link on completion is often enough. Use two links when you buy the charger before the visit.

The customer cancelled after I ordered the charger. What about the deposit?

A deposit taken this way is a full payment, not a card hold, so returning any of it is a payment you send back yourself, under your own terms. Zoyn has no refund button.

What about servicing contracts for workplace chargers?

Each service visit or each invoice is its own link. There is no automatic monthly charge; you send the next link when the next invoice is due.

Can Zoyn pay my electricians or my supplier?

No. Zoyn doesn't make payments on your behalf. It is the software you use to get paid by your customers, and nothing else.

What does it cost me?

A percentage of each payment, agreed with you in writing before you go live: crypto payments start at 0.75%, and card payments, if your business can take them, have a separate, higher price. No monthly platform fee and no setup fee. Network fees, and any extra charge for how your customer pays, are separate. Your customer pays them on top of your price and sees their total before they pay.

Will you take my installation business?

We publish every business type we take and every one we refuse, and every application is reviewed before it goes live. We don't promise a timeline we can't keep.

Legal & regulatory disclosures

Zoyn is software. It is not a bank, a payment processor, a payment gateway, a money transmitter or a money services business. Zoyn is never the seller in a sale (the "merchant of record"). Zoyn never holds a shop's money, and does not decide how long a payment company may hold it. When a customer pays by card or bank, the payment company handles that payment under its own terms and may hold it for a short time. The money then goes to the shop's own payment contract once the payment network has confirmed it.

Businesses can be based in 64 jurisdictions. A US state stays open when at least one checkout partner still serves buyers there. Customers can pay from 130+ countries through the checkout providers we connect to; which countries customers can pay from is set by those providers, not by Zoyn, and may change without notice. Not available in sanctioned jurisdictions: Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Syria, and the Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions of Ukraine.
