Payments for art dealers and galleries

Get paid for a work of art by a collector in another country.

The work is agreed at a fair or a private viewing, and the invoice follows by email. Send one link with it, for the invoice amount, and release the work once it is paid. The collector pays from their own wallet, and stablecoins settle to a wallet you control.

Before you read on: we publish every business type we take and every one we refuse — 28 we take, 11 we refuse.

Why this is harder than it looks

A collector abroad, an invoice after the handshake, and a work in transit.

The collector lives in another country

A work agreed at a fair or a private viewing is often bought by someone who flies home the next day, and a large transfer from abroad can be slow and costly.

Send one link for the invoice amount. The collector pays from their own wallet, in the currency the link was set in.

The sale is agreed first, the invoice follows

A handshake on the stand, then an invoice by email days later, and the work waits until it is paid.

Put the invoice number in the link's description and send it with the invoice. Every link is a single payment of a fixed amount.

Disputes are about condition and attribution

When a sale goes wrong it is usually over the state of the work on arrival or who it is by.

Your condition report, your paperwork and your terms of sale decide what is owed. Zoyn has no refund button.

Sales of works settle to a wallet only you control.

Two limits worth knowing. If your own account with us is under review, automatic payouts pause until that is resolved. And a buyer paying by card can be declined, or asked to prove who they are, before the money is sent — a payment that doesn't happen, never money taken back from you afterwards.

How it works

One invoice, one link, then the work is released.

1

Agree the work and the price

At the fair, at a viewing or by email, with your condition report and your terms for shipping and insurance.

2

Send one link with the invoice

The collector pays from their own wallet, or by card where available — buyer eligibility depends on country, payment method, provider, and compliance checks. A large card payment can be declined.

3

The payment reaches your wallet

After the required network confirmations. Then the work is released for shipping or collection.

What Zoyn does not do

You take the payment. The rest of the sale stays yours.

Zoyn does not check who a work is by or where it has been, and it does not find buyers or take part in the sale. It sends the payment link you ask for.

If you sell art, or help someone else sell it, at higher prices, money-laundering and sanctions rules in many places, including the UK and the EU, may require you to register with a supervisor, check who your buyer is and keep records, and a sale paid in several parts counts as one sale. Those duties are yours to meet however you are paid: being paid to your own wallet does not change them, and Zoyn does not find out who your buyers are or do these checks for you.

Common questions

What a gallery asks first.

Can a collector reserve a work with a deposit?

Yes, as two links: one for the deposit and one for the balance. They are two payments of one sale. Every link is a single payment of a fixed amount, and nothing charges automatically.

Does Zoyn check who a work is by, or its history?

No. Attribution, condition and the history of a work are yours to document for your buyer. You take the payment for the amount on the link.

The collector wants to return the work.

Your terms of sale, and the consumer law that applies to you, decide what is owed. Returning any of it is a payment you send back yourself. A wallet payment is not reversed by Zoyn after the required network confirmations; a card-funded payment can still be disputed under the provider's own rules.

What does it cost me?

A percentage of each payment, agreed with you in writing before you go live: crypto payments start at 0.75%, and card payments, if your business can take them, have a separate, higher price. No monthly platform fee and no setup fee. Network fees, and any extra charge for how your customer pays, are separate. Your customer pays them on top of your price and sees their total before they pay.

Will you take my gallery?

We publish every business type we take and every one we refuse, and every application is reviewed before it goes live. We don't promise a timeline we can't keep.

Selling jewellery as well? Read the page for jewellers. Selling antiques too? Read the page for antiques dealers. Not sure we'd take your business? See exactly how we decide.

Send the invoice for your next sale as one link.

Zoyn is software. It is not a bank, a payment processor, a payment gateway, a money transmitter or a money services business. Zoyn is never the seller in a sale (the "merchant of record"). Zoyn never holds a shop's money, and does not decide how long a payment company may hold it. When a customer pays by card or bank, the payment company handles that payment under its own terms and may hold it for a short time. The money then goes to the shop's own payment contract once the payment network has confirmed it.

Businesses can be based in 64 jurisdictions. A US state stays open when at least one checkout partner still serves buyers there. Customers can pay from 130+ countries through the checkout providers we connect to; which countries customers can pay from is set by those providers, not by Zoyn, and may change without notice. Not available in sanctioned jurisdictions: Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Syria, and the Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions of Ukraine.
