Bill the work, close the matter, get paid in full.

Law firms bill large one-off fees for completed work — a fixed fee for a finished matter, or an invoice for time already recorded — often to clients in another jurisdiction. Card rails answer that with reserves and disputes; payment to a wallet you control answers it with finality after the required network confirmations. This is for fees you have earned. Trust or client-account money, and any advance retainer, must not be paid through Zoyn.

Why this category gets penalised

The problem is the gap between paying and delivering.

Large single fees flagged by underwriting

A single fee for a finished matter, far above a firm's average ticket size, is an outlier, and large outliers are what rolling reserves and settlement holds are designed for.

A confirmed on-chain transfer is not a card-network dispute rail, so a large fee is not treated as a large exposure.

Fee disputes that would mean disclosing the file

Defending a card dispute over legal work means producing evidence of what was done — precisely the material a firm cannot circulate. That asymmetry makes disputes in this category expensive by default.

Zoyn does not reverse a settled transfer, so no part of the matter file ever has to be produced to a bank to keep a fee.

Co-counsel and referral shares moved by hand

Where a fee-sharing arrangement is permitted, the division is usually worked out after the fee clears and paid on from the firm's own account, adding a reconciliation step to every matter.

The fee settles to the firm's wallet, final, at confirmation — so where a fee-sharing arrangement is permitted, paying the other firm's share on is a USDC transfer whose timing you control, not a month-end reconciliation.

Overseas clients, correspondent banks, days of float

An international client's wire passes through intermediary banks, arrives short of the amount billed after spread and fees, and takes days the matter timetable does not allow for.

Settlement is in USDC, into a wallet the firm controls, with no banking intermediary in the path and no float to wait on.

How it works

One payment, settled to a wallet you control.

How a payment settles through ZoynA customer pays a payment link. The payment reaches a settlement contract, which divides it in fixed proportions set when it was deployed and pays the merchant’s own wallet and the platform fee directly. Zoyn sits outside the flow of funds.CustomerHostedcheckoutSplitcontractYour walletPlatform feeZoyn (config)Funds never pass through Zoyn
1

Create the fee link

Set the fixed amount and your matter reference. Send it with your final fee note or invoice for work already done — the link is yours.

2

Client pays their way

Card or crypto on a hosted checkout. Card availability depends on the buyer's location, currency, and available checkout providers. Card-funded payments are handled by the checkout provider — the firm never touches card data.

3

Your share is fixed up front

The shares are fixed when your payments are set up: the firm's share and the platform fee. Every payment follows them exactly, and each one can be checked on a public record.

4

USDC lands in a wallet the firm controls

Final after the required network confirmations. Zoyn is not in the path and never holds the funds.

Coverage

Where we can onboard you today.

Your type of business

Businesses in this group can apply. You pick your exact type of business when you apply, and every application is reviewed.

Jurisdictions we cannot serve

We cannot onboard merchants operating from comprehensively sanctioned jurisdictions. A US state stays open when at least one checkout partner still serves buyers there. We do not hold ourselves out as licensed anywhere.

Wallet addresses you'll be paid to are checked against sanctions lists when you enter them, and re-checked every day after that.

Common questions

What legal services merchants ask first.

Can clients pay a retainer or trust money through Zoyn?

No. Client trust (IOLTA) account funds must not be settled through Zoyn. That includes any money you have to hold for a client, such as an advance retainer that is not yet earned. Use Zoyn for fees you have already earned: a fixed fee for a completed matter, or an invoice for work you have billed. Payments settle to a wallet you control, which is not a client trust account.

What happens if a client disputes a fee after the matter closes?

Zoyn does not reverse it. Because the payment was pushed rather than pulled, a fee disagreement runs through your engagement terms and the ordinary costs process instead of a card-network dispute, and nothing from the matter file goes to a bank.

Does Zoyn ever have access to the funds?

No. Zoyn is not a payment processor, not a money transmitter, and never takes custody. Zoyn never holds settled funds, and where the money is paid is fixed when your payments are set up.

Legal & regulatory disclosures

Zoyn is software. It is not a bank, a payment processor, a payment gateway, a money transmitter or a money services business. Zoyn is never the seller in a sale (the "merchant of record"). Zoyn never holds a shop's money, and does not decide how long a payment company may hold it. When a customer pays by card or bank, the payment company handles that payment under its own terms and may hold it for a short time. The money then goes to the shop's own payment contract once the payment network has confirmed it.

Businesses can be based in 64 jurisdictions. A US state stays open when at least one checkout partner still serves buyers there. Customers can pay from 130+ countries through the checkout providers we connect to; which countries customers can pay from is set by those providers, not by Zoyn, and may change without notice. Not available in sanctioned jurisdictions: Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Syria, and the Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions of Ukraine.
